The Power Savings Blitz  is an Ontario Power Authority (OPA) incentive program offered through Toronto HydroNedco. The program involves a free lighting audit completed by Nedco and up to $1,000 of free lighting upgrades! delivered by

Although this sounds too good to be true, businesses and properties have no obligation to purchase more than the free $1,000 of energy savings products and installation they are eligible to receive. This program is open to offices and retail businesses who will not only benefit from better lighting but reduced electricity costs for years to come.

How your BIA can help its members participate:     

      greenTbiz would like to ensure that every BIA member has the opportunity to benefit from the program and has set up the following educational and promotional programs to make it easy for you and your BIA to participate.

1. To learn more about the program and promote the opportunity to the BIA board,  Nedco has designed a 10 minute presentation for your next upcoming board meeting or AGM. The presentation is designed to provide further program details and provide an opportunity to have questions answered directly by Nedco.
2. greenTbiz has designed an additional incentive and award program for the BIAs who are able to generate leads that are interested in and eligible for a Power Savings Blitz installation.  Any BIA coordinator, board member or BIA member can be tasked with collecting contact information from businesses and property owners who are interested in the program. Interested business and property owners can be collected through email blasts, newsletter notices, flyers or door to door visits. Members can be directed to contact greenTbiz directly or lists can be generated to send weekly to greenTbiz to ensure the audits and installations are conducted in a timely manner. Your BIA will receive $7 for every business who completes an installation through the Power Savings Blitz program.  That is an extra $700 for your budget with every 100 members who receives up to $1,000 of free energy efficient lighting.
3. In addition, the BIA that has the most participating members will be awarded the distinction of the Greenest Toronto BIA 2009.  The award will be present at the 2009 TABIA AGM and the winning BIA will be featured in TABIA and greenTbiz websites and newsletters.
